Alleging that land and liquor business groups are exerting a deep influence on governance, Communist Party of India (CPI) State secretary Pannian Raveendran has said that the present United Democratic Front government is the worst regime in the history of the State.

Flagging of a State-level march of the All India Youth Front to expose the “anti-people” policies of the government at a function at Kunjathur, near Manjeswaram, on Monday, he said Kerala had turned out to be a region with highest number of unemployed people. He said the recruitment to government services through the Public Service Commission had virtually ceased even as the list of job-seekers touched 40 lakh. The government remained on top in giving unfulfilled assurances.
