Bharatiya Janata Party leader M. Venkaiah Naidu said his party did not attach much importance to the contents of the Justice B.N. Srikrishna Committee report as the panel had no sanctity.
The report of the committee was not binding on the government and it had no statutory powers, he said. Introducing the Bill on a separate Telangana State in Parliament was the only solution to the issue.
“The BJP is prepared to extend its support if a Bill is introduced by the Congress or it will take necessary steps after coming back to power.”
Speaking to journalists here on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said the committee was constituted as a “time pass” measure by the Congress to delay a solution to the issue.
The “arrogant and opportunistic attitude” of the Congress government was exposed by the way it dealt with the issue, he said.
