A gang of persons broke into the Uttaradi Math on the banks of the Kagina at Malkhed in Sedam taluk of Gulbarga district on Monday and took away silver and gold ornaments valued at Rs. 4 lakh.

According to reports reaching here, the gang made its way into the math through the entrance on the river banks and entered the Brindavana complex. But, the gang members did not enter the enclosures within the complex where the mortal remains of Sri Jayatirtha and Sri Akshobhya Tirtha are buried. The reports said that a silver cradle and a donation box were among the articles taken away. Senior police officials and fingerprint experts visited the spot. The Malkhed police have registered a case.
