The IAS officer was accused of criminal assault
BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Secretaries’ Union has decided to challenge the reinstatement of the disgraced IAS officer and Panchayat CEO Gyaneshwar Patil, accused of criminal assault on Sikandarabad Panchayat secretary Satish Chaukse.
“The police have not registered any case against Patil and neither has the State Government taken any action. We will challenge the reinstatement in the High Court,” said union president Dinesh Chandra Sharma.
According to government sources, Patil was reinstated as the charges against him could not be proved.
“Had it been any ordinary person, the police would have made life difficult for him,” said Chaukse, the victim. “Patil’s quick reinstatement shows that the State Government is going out of its way to protect him. I will fight against the decision even if I have to go to the Supreme Court,” he said.
Patil had been suspended following instructions from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan after he was caught on camera by a TV channel.
