The government has given its approval to a proposal to grade engineering and other professional colleges in the State based on their infrastructural facilities, faculty, overall students' performance and job placement.

While reviewing issues relating to higher education here on Wednesday with the Minister concerned C. Damodar Rajanarsimha and officials, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy also approved a plan to amend the existing Education Act to give more teeth to the government for an effective control of the educational institutions.

At the same time, he cautioned that the grading process must be “absolutely transparent” with the display of details on the relevant website.
