The Centre on Thursday approved the enhanced cost of the funding for the Special Plan for Bihar under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) amounting to Rs. 3,468 crore.
In August 2006 the Centre had approved Rs. 5,568 crore for implementation of projects to speed up the socio-economic development of Bihar under a special plan funded under BRGF with an annual allocation of Rs. 1,000 crore. While approving the increased cost of these projects to Rs. 8,753 crore, the Centre has released Rs. 5,285 crore till the end of 2009-10.
The Union Cabinet's Committee on Economic Affairs cleared the balance amount of Rs. 3,468 crore which will be released over two fiscal years.
