The Special CBI court on Wednesday rejected the bail application of Arham farmhouse owner Rajendra Jirawala, arrested in the 2005 Sohrabuddin-Kausar Bi murder case.
Sohrabuddin's wife Kausar Bi was believed to have been kept for at least three days in the farmhouse on the outskirts of Gandhinagar before she was murdered. While one police version claimed that Kausar Bi was killed in the farmhouse itself, another said she was taken out from there before being killed in the office of the Anti-Terrorist Squad.
Jirawala, who was arrested soon after the arrest of the former Gujarat Minister Amit Shah in July, claimed before the CBI that he was out of the State during the period Kausar Bi was allegedly kept in his farmhouse and he had no knowledge of what happened.
The CBI court reserved order till November 18 on the interim bail application of the former Deputy Commissioner of Ahmedabad police, Abhay Chudasma. He has sought a three-month bail for undergoing a hip-joint operation in a private hospital.
The court earlier rejected a similar application, asking him to undergo surgery in the government civil hospital under police escort, but Mr. Chudasma filed a revised application claiming that the facilities available there were not satisfactory.
