Lok Janshakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan said here on Saturday that JD (U) leader Nitish Kumar would not sever ties with the Bharatiya Janata Party, with him he runs a coalition government in Bihar.
Responding to a question at a press conference, Mr. Paswan said, “It is certain that the BJP will make Narandra Modi its prime ministerial candidate. But I do not think Mr. Nitish Kumar will sever ties with the BJP.”
Asked about Mr. Kumar’s veiled preference for BJP leader L.K. Advani, whom he called “a respected leader,” Mr. Paswan said “What is the difference between Mr. Modi and Mr. Advani? He started the Babri masjid issue. How does he become secular? BJP president Rajnath Singh has said that all party leaders follow the party policy that is guided by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.”
Mr. Paswan will stage a march to the Raj Bhavan in Patna on Sunday, demanding removal of the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar
Under the slogan of ‘Bihar Hachao Nitish Hatao [Save Bihar, Remove Nitish], the march is set to highlight the issues plaguing Bihar.
“The power situation in the State is dismal. Corruption has peaked. This government is anti-people. They have done nothing in the name of development. There is much anger against the government among the people,” Mr. Paswan said.
