A meeting of Congress MLAs hailing from the Reddy community is being planned anytime after April 20.
The meeting, according to senior leaders, is being contemplated amid growing concerns that a majority of leaders from the community, known to support the Congress since long, were tilting towards the YSR Congress Party of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.
Senior leaders are apprehensive that some MLAs who were reportedly in active contact with YSRCP might announce their intentions after the by-elections to 18 Assembly constituencies and one Lok Sabha seat. A senior MLA, however, expressed concern over the way caste was becoming an important factor and said this would not augur well for the ruling party in the long run.
Former Minister T. Jeevan Reddy was forthright in claiming that it was the responsibility of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to keep all the party MLAs together. Bringing to fore such narrow-minded equations like caste and religion was a ploy to defame YSR and his family, YSRCP leader Bajireddy Goverdhan said in a press release.
Meeting planned to ‘check' migration of Reddy leaders to YSRCP
