Kolkata: Five eminent persons, including Punjab Governor Gen. (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues, Haryana Governor A.R. Kidwai and Tamil Nadu Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala, were awarded the prestigious Blessed Mother Teresa Lifetime Achievement Award on Sunday for excellence in administrative and social works.

The awards were instituted by the Mother Teresa International and Millennium Awards Committee under the banner of the city-based All-India Minority and Weaker Sections’ Council.

The other two recipients were Mizoram Chief Minister Lalthanhawla and the former Minister of State for Railways R.Velu.

The committee also presented the Mother Teresa International Awards to 35 eminent persons from different walks of life for achievement in their respective areas of activity.

Giving away the awards, Justice Shyamal Sen lauded the awardees’ brilliance and commitment to society. — PTI
