Shimla: About 40 houses were reduced to ashes in a devastating fire which broke out in a remote village in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday.

Nearly half of Jawaghi village in Ani sub-division was destroyed and more than 100 families rendered shelterless.

No loss of life

However, there was no loss of life, police said.

“The fire which broke out around 3.00 p.m. spread very fast and large number of houses were consumed by sky-high flames within no time and was brought under control by the evening,” Kullu Superintendent of Police K.K. Indoria said. — PTI
