Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated a yoga university on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.
Lakulish Yoga University, in a lotus-shaped building, has been set up by the Surendranagar-based Life Mission Trust, which already runs several yoga training centres across the State as well as in Canada and Mauritius.
The university will soon start admissions to courses in yoga, Indian culture and Indology. It will offer three-year degree courses to students aged 15-35, besides short-term programmes for elderly people interested in yoga.
In his address, Mr. Modi hailed the power of yoga. “People used to question its logic earlier with several advances in the field of science, but today, not just this country but the entire world has accepted the power of yoga,” he said.
