Patel Shivaram, MLC, has appealed to the Chief Minister and the Minister for Animal Husbandry to take steps to protect the interests of students of the Government Veterinary College in Hassan, who are worried as the college is not recognised by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI). Mr. Shivaram, in his letters to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Animal Husbandry Minister T.B. Jayachandra, said students of the college and their parents were worried over the developments.

The VCI has asked the college not to admit students for the academic year 2013-14, citing lack of infrastructure facilities and adequate staff. Those who have completed the course in the college are not being considered for the on-going recruitment to the posts of veterinary officer, he said in the letter. “Why should the students suffer when they have not done anything wrong? The government should intervene and help the students,” he said.
