The United Democratic Front, an eight-party Opposition alliance, on Friday changed its candidate for the by-election to the Hrangturzo Assembly seat to be held on April 9.
Dawngliana, who was selected by the UDF to represent the alliance, pulled out from the contest on Friday, leaving his party in the lurch. The last day for filing nominations is Saturday.
The party subsequently selected H. Lalduhawma, a retired government servant, who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly polls on November 25 last year from the same seat as candidate of the Zoram Nationalist Party. — PTI
