The five-month old Virbhadra Singh-led Congress Government in Himachal Pradesh is heading towards a crisis if the resignation of a senior Cabinet Minister dissatisfied with the internal functioning of the government can be considered an indication.

According to party sources, there could be more resignations in the next few days.Transport and Civil Supplies Minister G.S. Bali has handed over his resignation to AICC leader Ahmed Patel and has reportedly shown his dissatisfaction on the constant strain within the State Cabinet.

Mr. Bali who is considered a fire-brand leader is not being given a free hand and is constantly nagged by some junior party leaders owing allegiance to the Chief Minister, said a source close to the Minister.

He said Mr. Bali was given the responsibility by the party high command and that is the reason he sent his resignation to the State party in-charge Chaudhary Birender Singh and Mr. Ahmed Patel instead of the Chief Minister who had always opposed him politically.

Mr. Bali’s son had fought elections against Mr. Singh’s son for the State Youth Congress president’s post. The Chief Minister’s son was unseated after a complaint to the agency deputed by Rahul Gandhi to assess the fairness of the youth elections.
