Imphal: Unidentified militants on Tuesday fired at two Congress workers in Imphal East district of Manipur, police said.

Two militants came on a vehicle and abducted Congress workers L. Ibomcha and Kh. Muhindro at gun point from their houses at Sambei. They were then taken to a place near Sambei and shot at in their legs, police said, adding that the men reportedly told residents that they were punished for being Congress workers.

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has condemned the attack on some of its members by unidentified militants in the past few days.

In a statement here, the MPCC condemned the shooting of Bishenpur district Congress committee president W. Maipak Singh by unidentified gunmen at his house in Oinam on March 11.

The party also condemned the March 14 attack by some militants on the house of Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee L. Tilotama at Singjamei. — PTI
