Osmania region top rankers opted for radio diagnostics on the first day of the Medical PG counselling at the Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences here on Monday.

Counselling for the 85 per cent local seats began with the filling of seats in Osmania University region in the presence of special observer appointed by the State government to supervise the implementation of the Rule of Reservation B. Babu Rao. At 7.30 p.m. 161 clinical degree and three clinical diploma seats were filled, the counselling for 760 seats in Osmania region continued till late in the night.

Avula Satish Kumar, who secured first rank in OU region and second rank in the State, opted for Radio-diagnostics at Osmania Medical College (OMC). Gundamaraju Madhavilatha again from OMC was the next candidate to be called for counselling and she also opted for radio diagnostics and was granted the same in Gandhi Medical College. Ganta Sandeep from Karimnagar, opted for General Medicine in Osmania Medical College.

The counselling for the Osmania University region will be held till April 18, for Andhra University region from April 19 to 21 and for the SV University Region on April 22 and 23. The counselling for seats in the 15 per cent unreserved Statewide quota will be held on April 24, 25 and 26, the Vice-Chancellor said.

In all 2,313 seats are available in the open category with 1,139 in the Government colleges. In the physically challenged category, while 87 registered, 61 appeared for the medical tests and 49 were declared eligible. Classes will commence on May 2 and admitted students have to report to the colleges by April 30, the Registrar, T. Venugopala Rao said.
