Purchase of ‘liner plates' for Cherthala unit
The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) on Saturday filed a charge sheet in the Vigilance court against the six accused in a corruption case related to the purchase of ‘liner plates' for Malabar Cements Ltd's (MCL) Clinker-Grinding Unit at Cherthala.
The purchase of liner plates in 2003, without following proper tender proceedings, had caused a loss of Rs.1.16 crore to the company, according to the VACB. MCL had purchased ‘liner plates' from AIA Engineering (AIAE) without proper proceedings, VACB sources said.
Those named in the charge sheet are the then MCL Managing Director S.S. Mony; General Manager K. Muraleedharan Nair; Deputy General Manager (Productions) J.P. James; Plant Engineer Subhash Chandran, AIAE senior manager Dileep Kumar and managing director Bhadresh Shah. In all, four Vigilance cases had been registered for alleged irregularities in MCL.
