The former Uttar Pradesh Family Welfare Minister, Babu Singh Kushwaha, who recently expressed the fear that a senior minister and two key government officials were plotting to kill him, was expelled from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) “for all time to come.”

Mr. Kushwaha was expelled on the Chief Minister Mayawati's direction. Mr. Kushwaha, in a letter sent to the Chief Minister, had named PWD Minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and Principal Secretary (Home) Kunwar Fateh Bahadur in connection with the alleged plot.

State president of the BSP Swamy Prasad Maurya said in a press release that Mr. Kushwaha was expelled for “indiscipline and anti-party activities.”
