In a major breakthrough on the eve of gram panchayat elections, the Karimnagar district police have unearthed a Maoist arms dump in the forests of Modedu, a hamlet of interior Pankena village of Mahadevpur mandal on Thursday.

Disclosing this to newsmen at Godavarikhani, Superintendent of Police V Ravinder said that on credible information about the Maoists dump, the special police parties from Kataram rushed to the spot and during the combing operations unearthed the dump and recovered 670 rounds of SLR weapon and two grenade launchers. The police suspect that the Maoists might have planned to commit a major offence in the region.Kataram CI A Ramulu, Mahadevpur SI Rajeshwara Rao were lauded.
