Belgaum: The Manipur Police, the Karnataka State Intelligence and the Belgaum police officials arrested a prominent activist of Manipur's People's Union Liberation Front (PULF) here on Sunday night.

The activist has been identified as M.I. Khan, alias Mohammed Ismail Khan alias Mohammed Ibrahim alias Ibrahim Kazi.

The Manipur police was on the look out for Khan, who is wanted for several offences.

Soon after his arrest, Mr. Khan was produced before the Judge heading the First Class JMFC Court IV.

The police have taken the activist to Bangalore for investigation.

The police and intelligence sources told The Hindu that they were tipped off about the activist taking shelter in the city only on Friday. They were now gathering information on whether Khan had any contacts in the city.
