Union Minister of State for Finance J.D. Seelam says he is in favour of making Hyderabad Union Territory to instil a sense of security among the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
“Hyderabad is a global hub of IT and pharma companies and has prompted many families here to invest and make the city their home. If making Hyderabad U.T. will address the fears and concerns of the people of Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, I am for it,” Mr. Seelam told The Hindu here on Monday.
Even as he faced a group of protestors at Ponnur, Mr. Seelam urged them to put down all their concerns to the Group of Ministers constituted by the Centre.
“If we do not act now, we will be meting out injustice to our cause,” he said.
‘Form River Water Authority’
“Water and Hyderabad remain the biggest concerns for the people of the Seemandhra region. I suggest that a River Water Authority should be formed with statutory powers to exercise control over two large water basins of Krishna and Godavari,” he said.
