A low-pressure system evolved over the Comorin region on Friday, promising heavy rainfall in Kerala, especially the southern districts.

Numerical weather prediction models of the India Meteorology Department (IMD) chart the movement of the system in a northwest direction to intensify into a depression off the State's coast by Saturday. It is shown to further intensify by Sunday, but its influence on the weather in the State will diminish by Monday since it will continue to move in the north-west direction over the Arabian Sea, away from the coast.

Strong gusts of wind, touching speeds of up to 55 km a hour, are likely off the coast. The IMD advised fishermen not to venture out to sea on Saturday and Sunday.
