With the Rajya Sabha impeaching Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court last week for embezzlement, the Lok Sabha will take up the issue on September 4 and 5, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said on Tuesday. The two motions to impeach Justice Sen were passed by well over a two-thirds majority of members present and voting in the Upper House.

A short-duration discussion on corruption under Rule 193, which does not entail voting, would be taken up on Wednesday, Mr. Bansal told journalists after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee.

On Thursday, the situation in post-conflict Sri Lanka would come up for discussion. The topic was listed by Speaker Meira Kumar on Tuesday and she even asked T.R. Baalu (DMK) to speak, with other interested members requested to take the floor the next day. Following protests mainly from the DMK and the AIADMK, the suggestion was dropped, and the entire discussion would take place on Thursday.
