The Forest Department trapped a leopard at Yeliyur in Channarayapatna taluk on Saturday.
There had been reports of the wild animal killing heads of cattle and sheep in the area, and village residents had requested the department to catch it.
Assistant Conservator of Forests C.A. Dayananda said a trap was laid at a farm belonging to Nage Gowda, a farmer.
“It is a six-year-old female leopard. It has been released into Kempuhole forest in Sakleshpur taluk,” he said.
