A function to mark the release of a book written by Inukonda Thirumali of the Indian Council for Social Science Research, had speakers emphasising on emergence of leadership from Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Tribes and minorities for making the separate Telangana to become a reality.

Releasing the book titled, ‘Telangana-Andhra: Castes, Regions and Politics in A.P’, here on Saturday, Justice M. N. Rao, Chairman, National Commission for BCs regretted that people from the socially-deprived sections were not getting enough opportunities to rule the state.

‘Elite favoured’

Mr. Thirumali said only the elite and caste angles were taken into consideration in the making of Andhra Pradesh and that was why the masses were unhappy and there was demand for separate Telangana.

Others who spoke included Prof. K. Muralimanohar, Chairman, Academy of BC Development and Empowerment, Zaheeruddin Ali Khan, Managing Editor, Urdu daily Siasat , Tankasala Ashok, Resident Editor, The Hans India , Gautam Pingle of Administrative Staff College of India and noted gastroenterologist, Dr. P. Vinay Kumar.

Bhukya Bhangya, School of Inter-Disciplinary Studies, English and Foreign Languages University attended.
