Students of Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheswara Law College here staged a protest on the campus on Thursday against the alleged erratic evaluation of answer scripts of various examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Law University, Dharwad, recently. They boycotted the classes.
They alleged that the university authorities had failed to ensure that evaluations of the scripts were done objectively.
They alleged that about 60 per cent of the students in all semesters of three-year and five-year term LLB courses in the college had failed in the examinations. It included many meritorious students. They alleged that it was a result of erratic and negligent evaluation by teachers.
In a memorandum submitted to the Governor through the Deputy Commissioner, they alleged that the evaluation system of the university was weak as the university had drafted “inexperienced” teachers for evaluation. There was very little interaction between the university and teachers.
It said that many students of the college had scored marks below 45 per cent when they deserved more.
