Politicians should take a lesson from the conviction of Rashriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written recently in the Puja edition of the Trinamool Congress magazine Maa Maati Manush .

“Laluji has been jailed for his involvement in the fodder scam. I will ask all the politicians to draw lessons from this. Why is there so much greed?” she asked.

“Whether someone is a politician or not, how much money is required to run a household?” Ms. Banerjee asked, pointing out that there would be no corruption if people did not indulge in consumerism.

A court in Ranchi had sentenced the RJD chief on October 3 to five years imprisonment for his involvement in the fodder scam case.
