Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP K. Keshava Rao has launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for ‘suppressing' the Telangana statehood movement by foisting false cases and adopting vindictive methods against pro-Telangana activists including elected Congress representatives.

Dr. Rao visited Karimnagar on Sunday to meet Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar, former Minister T. Jeevan Reddy and others who were lodged in Karimnagar jail after non-bailabale cases were registered against them and they were remanding to 14 days judicial custody on Saturday. Congress MPs Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Manda Jagannatham, MLC Yadava Reddy, MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, TRS legislator Koppula Eshwar, former MP B. Vinod and others also met Mr. Prabhakar and others lodged in the jail.

Talking to newsmen, Dr. Rao wanted the government to withdraw all the false cases unconditionally.

He warned the Chief Minister not to provoke the people of Telangana as they would chase him away.

Peddapalli MP G. Vivekanand said the government had registered non-bailable cases against them only to suppress the movement. He reiterated that they were ready for any kind of sacrifice for the cause of separate Telangana State.
