NEW DELHI: Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat called on Janata Dal (Secular) president and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Monday at his residence and reportedly discussed the current political situation in Karnataka.
The meeting lasted for about an hour. The two reportedly focussed on the differences between Congress and JD (S) in Karnataka, which has grown following the recent Zila Panchayat election.
Mr. Gowda had recently announced that the National Executive Committee of the party would meet on February 8 to decide on whether to continue to be in the coalition Government in the State or withdraw from it in the wake of the Congress high command's decision to allow party leaders at the local level to even explore the possibility of tying up with JD (S) rebel faction led by the former Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah.
