Notices were issued by a judge to Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Political Joint Action Committee (JAC) chairman M. Kodandaram directing them to appear before the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) here before February 15.

DLSA Secretary and Senior Civil Judge K. Surya Rao issued the notices on Thursday following a petition filed by Chairman, Samaikhya Andhra Students Joint Action Committee, A. Mahesh.

In the petition, it was alleged that Mr. Rao and Prof. Kodandaram had defamed the people of Andhra in their public speeches and statements and tried to divide the people.

Mr. Mahesh said the leaders were encouraging regional feelings among people for their personal gain by demanding bifurcation of the State, adding that the TRS president had defamed former Prime Ministers Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh too.

A complaint filed by Mr. Mahesh with the III Town police station did not have the desired response and hence he moved the District Legal Services Authority.
