The report of the 30-member Joint Parliamentary Committee on 2G spectrum allocation is likely to be tabled in Parliament on Thursday, first day of the winter session.

Informed sources said DMK and CPI parliamentary party leaders T.R. Baalu and Gurudas Dasgupta and the DMK’s A. Raja have already given notices to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar’s office, under Rule 193, seeking a discussion on the report.

Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj told journalists that the BJP would object to the way the JPC report was adopted with a thin margin, and raise the issue of dissent notes. Mr. Dasgupta said since the committee was a “child” of Parliament, its functioning would come up for debate.

DMK sources said the party was upset that Mr. Raja, former Communications Minister and accused in the case, was denied an opportunity to appear before the JPC, and his written statement was not included in the main report either.
