Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has condemned the hike in the price of petrol and diesel.

In a statement, she said the Centre cut the price of petrol/diesel in March keeping in mind the Assembly election in Karnataka.

Though the price of crude oil in the international market was stable, the increase in the price of petrol price by 75 paise per litre and diesel by 50 paise per litre would only add to the burden of the common man.

Since the hike would only lead to the increase in the prices of essential commodities, the Union Government should withdraw it, Ms. Jayalalithaa added.
