A Joint Action Committee consisting of the TDP, CPI, CPI (M), BJP and Lok Satta Party visited the K.L. Rao Sagar (Pulichintala) project on Tuesday and inspected the work as part of its campaign to get the project completed at the earliest.
Members of the JAC demanded that the Chief Minister make a statement on the long-pending project during his scheduled visit on May 9 and take steps for its speedy execution. Project Executive Engineer M. Venkata Reddy furnished the details.
Mr. Rajendra Prasad said it would be next to impossible to meet the latest deadline of June 30 if the pace at which the work was progressing was any indication.
The erection of seven crest gates (17 gates out of the total 24 were put in place recently) alone requires at least 70 days. The JAC is holding a meeting of people’s representatives, farmers and other stakeholders at Pedaravuru in Tenali on May 14 as its next step of action for mounting pressure on the government.
