First parliamentary convention at Ponnani on Friday

Acting on its decision to start campaigning for Lok Sabha polls without waiting for other UDF allies, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will hold an election meeting at Kottakkal Changuvetti PM Auditorium, Ponnani, on Friday.

The party State committee had decided earlier this month to organise election conventions in all 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in the State. Conventions had already been held in wards, panchayats, and Assembly constituencies. With the parliamentary convention on Friday, IUML would put in place various committees for poll-related activities.

By December, campaign work would start. The conventions in Kozhikode and Wayanad would be held on Sunday. Conventions in other districts would be organised in the following days. IUML’s senior leaders including national president E. Ahamed, State president Syed Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, treasurer P.K. Kunhalikutty, national secretary E.T. Mohammed Basheer, would speak at Friday’s meet.
