The Income Tax department carried out searches on the residential and office premises of a number of Punjabi pop singers, actors and other personalities from the regional cinema industry at various places in Punjab. While the department was not forthcoming with any information, the unprecedented action has raised a few eyebrows in the State.

According to reports, the IT teams descended on the residences and offices of leading Punjabi singers, Miss Pooja, Gippy Grewal and Diljit Dosanjh in Jalandhar, Mohali and Rajpura.

Both Miss Pooja and Gippy Grewal have acted and produced Punjabi films, which have been major successes. The albums by the singers have been doing good business and they are reported to have received major bookings for events across the country and abroad. Searches were conducted on the premises of film producer Romy Tahli as well as owners and partners of the Speed Record Company, Rubi Electronics and Batra Films in Jalandhar city.
