Minister for Medical Education S.A. Ramdas has said that walk-in interviews will be held in the first week of August to fill 200 vacancies at the Dharwad Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences.

Mr. Ramdas told mediapersons that a notification with regard to the interviews would be issued shortly. Recruitment would be based on merit and the entire process would be completed within a month, the Minister added.

Staff members who had been deputed from the Department of Health and Family Welfare would be absorbed into DIMHANS if they were eligible, otherwise they would be sent back to their parent department, he said. A proposal to develop DIMHANS on a par with NIMHANS would be submitted to the Union government. The State and Union governments would share the cost on 50:50 basis.

Mr. Ramdas said D. Nagaraja, who had served as the director at NIMHANS, would take charge as the new director of DIMHANS on August 1.
