The Solar Energy Association of Tamil Nadu has planned to set up a national-level institute of solar technology in Tirupur to promote research and development (R&D) and training of personnel in areas of solar photovoltaic and utilisation of solar energy. “Already, our consultant has started the preparation of the blue print of the project which will be soon submitted to Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to get financial assistance,” Raju V.R.Palanisamy, president of SEAT, told The Hindu . The proposed institute will focus mainly on developing region-specific innovative concepts in setting up of solar parks and tapping of solar energy.
