: Despite the recent increase in firing incidents along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Deputy National Security Advisor Nehchal Sandhu on Monday said India and Pakistan wanted to scale down tension along the border.

The issue of cross-border firing was recently discussed at the meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in the U.S., where both leaders underlined the need to normalise the situation.

There have been over 120 incidents of ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border this year so far
