Appointed Asthana Sangeetha Vidwan of Seetharama Swamy temple
Carnatic music maestro Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna took charge as the Asthana Sangeetha Vidwan of the renowned Sri Seetharama Swamy shrine in Bhadrachalam on Thursday.
Mr. Balamuralikrishna took the oath in the presence of scores of Lord Srirama devotees and a galaxy of musicians at a glittering ceremony held at Chitrakuta Mandapam in the temple complex on Thursday evening.
The temple executive officer S S Chandrasekhar Azad administered the oath to the music legend amidst the thundering applause by the audience.
Earlier, Mr. Balamurali Krishna was accorded a rousing reception by the temple staff on his arrival at the shrine nearly after three decades. He offered special prayers at the temple before taking oath as the Asthana Sangeetha Vidwan.
Terming the honour as “Maha Varaprasadam”, the music exponent pledged to contribute his mite to the service of Lord Sri Rama and the development of the temple.
Responding to the praises showered on him by the speakers for his distinguished accomplishment as a globally acclaimed music legend, he said the entire credit goes to the music, the music lovers, his parents and family members. The music legend enthralled the audience with his awesome renditions of keertanas in praise of lord Ganesha, Sri Rama and Hanuman as part of his maiden music concert in the capacity of the temple's Asthana Sangeetha Vidwan in the packed mandapam. He enriched the glorious music tradition of the temple town with his mesmerizing performance leaving the audience spellbound.
Earlier, temple trust board chairman K. Panduranga Rao and prominent persons of the temple town felicitated Mr. Balamuralikrishna for accepting the honour.
