The Supreme Court will hear on Friday an application filed by Nupur Talwar, mother of Aarushi, seeking anticipatory bail in the twin-murder (of Aarushi and Hemraj) case in which the trial court had issued a non bailable warrant against her.

Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Dr. Nupur Talwar made an urgent mention on Thursday before a Bench of Justices A.K. Patnaik and Swatanter Kumar seeking early hearing of the application as well as the special leave petition against an order of the Allahabad High Court refusing to grant her relief. The Bench agreed to hear the matter on Friday.

In her application, she said she had been falsely implicated and framed in the present case. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had carried out all kinds of tests to find out her involvement and nothing had been found to even remotely connect her with the alleged crime. Neither the Uttar Pradesh Police nor the CBI had ever considered her as an accused at any stage of investigation and it was only the magistrate who considered her an accused and issued the summons/warrants for her appearance.

She said there was no further investigation required in the case as the CBI had already filed its closure report. If she were arrested, it would cause great ignominy, humiliation and disgrace, besides serious consequences not only to her but also to the entire family. She said the Supreme Court had already issued notice on the petition seeking review of the order and the matter was listed for hearing on April 27. She prayed for quashing the magistrate's order and to grant her anticipatory bail in the event of her arrest.
