Upset that the UPA government has failed to pass the Janlokpal Bill, anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has said he will renew his agitation on the first day of the winter session of Parliament.
“Neither you nor your government has taken any constructive step to bring in the Janlokpal Bill,” he said in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday. “For the past two years, the citizens of India are being fooled.”
Because of his ill-health, he would not be able to protest at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi. “I will write to you when I decide the location,” he said.
Sources close to Mr. Hazare said he would begin the agitation on December 10 in Ralegan Siddhi, his native village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
After it went through the Lok Sabha, the Lokpal Bill was referred to a Selected Committee of the Rajya Sabha, which sent its report on November 23, 2012. The Bill has not yet been introduced in the Rajya Sabha.
