Deputy Commissioner K.P. Mohan Raj lost his cool at a Public Works Department official here on Saturday, threatened to “manhandle” him, and warned him of “suspension and arrest”.
He was here to attend a meeting of MLAs and officials of Mines and Geology and the PWD to discuss the new sand extraction policy.
Mr. Mohan Raj admonished Venkatesh, Assistant Engineer in charge of sand extraction in Alur taluk, alleging that he did not curb illegal transportation of sand.
He alleged that PWD officials were not cooperating with the district administration to implement the sand policy. “If you cannot implement it, inform that in writing. I will move the High Court against you,” Mr. Mohan Raj said. The incident occurred after Patel Shivaram, MLC; H.S. Prakash, MLA; and H.K. Javare Gowda, former MP, left the venue.
