Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy extended their warm greetings to Telugu people in the State and outside on the eve of three-day Sankranti festival.
The Governor said Sankranti is an occasion for thanks-giving to Mother Nature and time to rejoice in traditional gaiety in celebration of unity, amity and brotherhood with one and all. Though the farmers suffered huge losses due to recent natural calamities , they braved the situation with fortitude. “Our thoughts and hearts reach out to them,” he said.
Mr. Reddy said Sankranti is the time to rejoice in traditional bonhomie as farmers bring home newly harvested crop. It is sad that farmers suffered heavy losses this time but the government is doing its best to help farmers with special financial package, he said.
He wished the farming community speedy recovery from their loss.
