The Karnataka Government Employees' Association has appealed to the Government to set up a pay commission at the earliest to look into the issue of wage revision, as promised in the budget.

Association president L. Bhyrappa told presspersons here on Wednesday that all States barring Karnataka had already implemented the recommendations of the sixth pay commission, and the State should speed up the process of pay revision. The employees should also be paid house rent allowance and city compensatory allowance on a par with the Central Government employees.

Mr. Bhyrappa said the Government should also pay attention to filling vacant posts, which were as many as 1.7 lakh, leading to delays and bottlenecks.

Mr. Bhyrappa added that the Government should evolve a scientific transfer policy, so that workers were not transferred throughout the year.
