Union Home Secretary designate Anil Goswami on Friday met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after holding meetings to review border and coastal security with top officials of the Border Security Force and State police here.
He declined to comment on the meeting or whether the issue of the Central forces was discussed during the deliberations. “No comments,” Mr. Goswami told reporters after the 40-minute meeting with the Chief Minister.
Chief Secretary Sanjay Mitra, Home Secretary Basudev Banerjee and DGP Naparajit Mukherjee were present at his meeting with the CM.
Earlier, Mr. Goswami held a two-hour meeting with top BSF, Coast Guard and Central intelligence agency officials at the BSF office here.
This is Mr. Goswami’s second visit to the State in eight days. On June 20, he met Governor M.K. Narayanan.
