The Goa Police has suspended Jitendra Kambli, a constable attached to the State police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC), suspecting his link to a drug mafia which killed Nigerian national Obado Uzoma Simeon at Parra in north coastal Goa recently.
ANC sources on Tuesday said Kambli, who has been with the ANC for well over two years, is suspected of having leaked information about the police’s movements to the killers. ANC chief and Superintendent of Police Kartik Kashyap confirmed that Kambli’s suspension was ordered on Monday evening after an inquiry. The Nigerian national’s murder is suspected to have been a result of gang-rivalry between two drug mafias. Two locals have been arrested in connection with the murder. Seven police officials were recently suspended and are currently being tried for their suspected links to the drug mafia.
