Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Ramesh Chennithala has said that urgent steps should be taken to reach relief to people hit by rain havocs.
The KPCC president said in a statement on Saturday that there were complaints that proper assistance was not reaching the relief camps in the State which housed more than 36,000 persons.
Steps needed to be taken to reach food, medicines and cloths to them and initiate rehabilitation measures. Urgent precautionary measures needed to be taken to prevent spread of contagious diseases.
Assistance should be provided to farmers, who lost their crops, and to fishermen suffering from sea erosion.
Flood waters submerged paddy fields in Kuttanad and other places.
The losses across the State were heavy and more damage was being reported, he said.
