MUMBAI: Arun Gawli, a former member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, is set to merge his Akhil Bharatiya Sena (ABS) with the Bahujan Samaj Party.
He will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Mumbai South Central.
Now an MLA from Chinchpokli here, he has been in jail since April 2008 after he was arrested on extortion charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act. He has also been named, along with 13 persons, in the charge sheet in the case of the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar.
Three other candidates the BSP has finalised to contest from Mumbari are Mohammed Ali, Athar Siddiqui and Ashok Singh.
