Four struck dead by lightning

Four persons -- two women and two boys -- were struck dead by lightning in separate incidents in Dummugudem, Aswapuram, Tekulapalli and Palvancha mandals on Tuesday.

According to sources, P. Naresh, 18, a student of Bhadrachalam based Industrial Training Institute (ITI), was struck by lightning while he was taking shelter under a tree near at Mallelamadugu in Aswapuram mandal in the evening.

In another incident, S. Srinivas, 12, who was returning home on bicycle was killed on the spot after being hit by lightning at Ulavanuru village in Palvancha rural mandal in the afternoon. Two more children riding another bicycle fell unconscious, the sources said.

Ch. Nirmala, 28, a cotton farmer, was killed in a lightning strike while working in her agriculture farm at Oddugudem village in Tekulapalli mandal in the afternoon. Komuram Lakshmi, a tribal farmer, died on the spot after being struck by lightning at Arlagudem village in Dummugudem mandal in the evening.
